A brand new report from The Wrap is saying that Warner Bros. Discovery has no plans to launch DC Leisure’s Batgirl film. The film was initially being developed for HBO Max after which there have been reviews that it’d get a theatrical launch. Effectively, now it’s getting neither.
The film was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Falla and it stars Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon, Michael Keaton as Batman, Brendan Fraser because the villain, JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Jacob Scipio.
The movie value the studio $90 million to make, they usually’re simply going to shelve it? Was the film actually that unhealthy!? Apparently so! The report explains:
The leaders of the studio decided finally, despite reshoots and elevated price range, that the film merely didn’t work, in accordance with insiders. The brand new house owners and administration, led by CEO David Zaslav, are dedicated to creating DC titles large theatrical occasion movies, and “Batgirl” isn’t that. Insiders added that studio brass loves the movie’s administrators and star, and are actively planning to work with them quickly.
It’s fairly loopy that the studio is simply throwing out a $90 million movie! If the studio is so sad with the film and the way it turned out, why would they wish to proceed to work with the filmmakers that have been concerned with it? I don’t know, possibly they place the blame on the previous studio regime?
In any case, the film was particularly designed for an HBO Max film. I assume there’s an opportunity that WB nonetheless has plans for a Batgirl film, however they might begin from scratch, and subsequent time round, possibly they may give the filmmakers a correct price range to work with to present them the type of Batgirl film they need. I’m simply speculating. What do you all assume?
